What Is the Soul Ear? Learning to Listen to Your Soul’s Guidance

What Is the Soul Ear? Learning to Listen to Your Soul’s Guidance

The Soul Ear: Learning to Listen to the Quiet Wisdom Within…

There is a part of you that has never stopped speaking.

Not your mind.

Not your fears.

Not your worries, habits, responsibilities, or endless to do lists.

Something deeper. I call it the Soul Ear.

The Soul Ear is not a physical ear. It is a way of listening. It is our ability to hear and recognize the messages, nudges, reminders, and guidance that come from our soul throughout our lives.

Many people spend years trying to think their way through life. They search for answers through analysis, logic, planning, and problem solving. These are valuable tools, but they are not the only tools available to us.

There is another source of information quietly operating in the background. Our soul. And our Soul Ear is how we learn to hear it.

 Your Soul Is Always Transmitting

One of the things I have noticed over many years of working with people is that the soul never stops communicating. The messages may become faint. We may become distracted. We may stop listening. But the signal itself never disappears…

Our soul is continually transmitting information intended for our highest and best good. It is constantly attempting to guide us toward greater balance, greater alignment, and a more authentic expression of who we truly are.

Sometimes these messages arrive as a feeling. Sometimes as an image. Sometimes as a sudden knowing. Sometimes as a thought that seems to appear from nowhere. Sometimes as a quiet discomfort that tells us something is not quite right. And sometimes as a deep sense that we need to pay attention to something we would otherwise overlook.

The challenge is not whether the soul is communicating…. The challenge is whether we are listening.

 The Problem Is Not Silence

Many people assume they cannot hear their soul because it is silent.  In my experience, that is rarely the case.  The problem is usually that life has become very loud.

We live in a world filled with notifications, opinions, expectations, distractions, obligations, advertisements, worries, and endless streams of information competing for our attention.

The voice of the soul is rarely the loudest voice in the room.  It does not demand.  It does not shout.  It does not force… It invites.

Its messages often arrive gently and quietly…

Imagine stepping out of a hot shower and noticing the fogged mirror in front of you. At first, it appears blank. Yet if you look closely, patterns begin to emerge. Shapes become visible. Details reveal themselves. Then, after a short time, the condensation fades and the opportunity to notice those details disappears.

Messages from the soul can be similar.

They are often subtle.  Not weak.  Not uncertain.  Just subtle.  They require our attention.

Learning the Language of the Soul

One reason people miss these messages is because they expect them to arrive in a dramatic way.

Many people imagine spiritual guidance as a booming voice from the heavens announcing exactly what they should do next.  Most of the time, it does not work that way.  The language of the soul is often symbolic…

It may speak through:

  • Images that suddenly appear in your mind
  • Recurring thoughts
  • Dreams
  • Intuitive knowing
  • Synchronicities
  • Emotional nudges
  • Repeated themes appearing in your life
  • A feeling of expansion or contraction around a decision
  • A deep sense that something is true even though you cannot explain why

Over time, we begin to recognize these patterns.  We begin to understand how our soul communicates specifically with us.  Much like learning a new language, it takes practice.  The more attention we give it, the easier it becomes to understand.

Why Tuning Into Your Soul Ear Matters

Many people arrive at a point in life where they feel disconnected.  They may be successful.  Busy.

Responsible.  Capable.  Yet something feels missing.  Something feels off.

Often, they are not lacking strength.  They are disconnected from it.

They have become disconnected from their own inner guidance system…

Disconnected from their intuition.

Disconnected from nature.

Disconnected from their deeper purpose.

Disconnected from their Soul Path.

Tuning into the Soul Ear helps us reconnect.  It helps us remember who we are beneath the noise.

It helps us notice when we are moving toward something that supports us and when we are moving away from what truly matters.

The Soul Ear is not about surrendering your judgement.  It is about adding another source of wisdom to your decision making.  One that comes from a deeper place…

Nature and the Soul Ear

One of the reasons many people hear their soul more clearly in nature is because nature speaks a similar language…

Nature does not communicate through arguments and debates.  It communicates through presence…  Cycles.  Patterns.  Relationships.  Energy.

As human beings, we are part of nature.  Yet many of us spend much of our lives disconnected from it.  When we slow down and spend time outdoors, something often begins to shift.  The signal becomes clearer.  We notice more.  We feel more.  We remember more…

In shamanic traditions, many people recognize that the world around us is alive with energy and awareness. This understanding is often referred to as animism.  At its heart, animism is the recognition that life is not limited to human beings.  Everything participates in the great web of existence.

Everything has presence.  Everything has value.  Everything deserves respect.

When we approach nature with respect and attention, we often discover that it has much to teach us.  And our Soul Ear becomes stronger as a result….

 The Importance of Paying Attention

One of the simplest ways to strengthen your Soul Ear is to begin paying attention:

  • When a meaningful thought appears, pause.
  • When a strong intuitive feeling arises, notice it.
  • When a recurring image keeps returning, consider what it may be trying to show you.
  • When something feels deeply true, make space for it.

You may even wish to keep a notebook nearbyMany important messages arrive unexpectedly.

Writing them down helps us honour them and remember them. Over time, patterns emerge. Connections become visible. The language becomes more familiar. And what once felt subtle becomes easier to recognize.

 Listening Is a Practice

Developing your Soul Ear is not about becoming perfect… It is not about receiving constant answers. It is not about predicting the future.

It is about developing a relationship.  A relationship with yourself.  A relationship with your soul.

A relationship with the deeper wisdom that has been accompanying you your entire life.

The more we listen, the stronger that relationship becomes.  The stronger that relationship becomes, the easier it is to recognize our Soul Path.  And the easier it becomes to live a life that feels meaningful, authentic, and aligned with who we truly are.

 Your soul is already speaking.

The question is not whether the message is being sent…

The question is whether you are giving yourself enough space to hear it…

Perhaps today is a good day to start listening

Shamanism: A Pathway to Deep Healing and Spiritual Balance

Shamanism: A Pathway to Deep Healing and Spiritual Balance

If you’ve found yourself here, trust that it’s no accident. Your spirit—perhaps even your helping spirits—has guided you to this moment. Something deep within you knows that healing is needed, even if you don’t fully understand how or why. Shamanic healing is an ancient practice that has helped countless people throughout history find balance, clarity, and profound transformation. If you are searching for answers, relief, or a deeper connection to your true self, you are in the right place.

What is Shamanism?

Shamanism is one of the oldest healing traditions known to humanity. It is not a religion, nor is it confined to one culture or belief system. It is a way of understanding and working with the unseen spiritual energies that shape our lives. As a shamanic practitioner, I serve as a bridge between the physical and spiritual worlds, facilitating healing at the deepest levels—far beyond what the mind alone can comprehend.

Shamanic healing works on the energetic and spiritual layers of our being. Unlike conventional methods that often address only symptoms, shamanism goes to the root of imbalance, whether it stems from past trauma, soul fragmentation, or disconnection from your true essence. Through practices such as soul retrieval, energy clearing, and spirit guidance, we restore wholeness, vitality, and inner harmony.

Why You May Be Seeking Shamanic Healing

You may feel lost, stuck, or weighed down by emotions or experiences that you can’t seem to shake. You may have tried traditional therapy or other healing methods without finding the resolution you seek. Shamanism is for those who sense—deep down—that there is more to healing than what meets the eye. Your inner knowing has led you here because you are ready to step onto a path of true transformation.

Here’s how shamanic healing can help:

1. Healing Deep Emotional and Spiritual Wounds

Many struggles in life stem from unresolved trauma or soul loss. When we go through painful experiences, parts of our soul can fragment as a survival response, leaving us feeling incomplete. Soul retrieval is a core shamanic practice that brings these lost soul parts back, restoring your wholeness and vitality. People who experience soul retrieval often report a renewed sense of self, inner strength, and emotional freedom.

2. Releasing Anxiety, Stress, and Overwhelm

Modern life can be incredibly draining, disconnecting us from our true nature. Shamanic techniques such as journeying, breathwork, and energetic clearing help release the burdens that weigh you down. These practices bring deep relaxation, clarity, and a sense of peace that transcends the chaos of everyday life.

3. Reconnecting with Your True Path and Purpose

Many people come to shamanic healing feeling lost or uncertain about their direction. If you have ever felt like something is missing but can’t quite put your finger on it, this work can help. Through guided shamanic journeys and spiritual insight, we uncover what your soul is longing for, helping you realign with your purpose and inner truth.

4. Restoring Connection to the Natural and Spiritual Realms

We are not separate from nature or the unseen realms—we are a part of them. Yet, in today’s world, many of us feel disconnected from the deeper rhythms of life. Shamanic practices help restore that connection, allowing you to experience the wisdom and healing power of the natural world, your ancestors, and your own spirit allies.

5. Clearing Negative Energies and Strengthening Your Energetic Field

You may feel heavy, drained, or stuck in toxic cycles without fully understanding why. Shamanic energy clearing works to remove these unseen influences, helping you feel lighter, more protected, and more empowered in your daily life.

Trust That You Were Led Here for a Reason

Shamanic healing is not just about fixing what feels broken—it’s about reclaiming your power, reconnecting with your spirit, and stepping into a more vibrant and whole version of yourself. If you’ve found your way here, it’s because you are being called to this work. Your helping spirits have already been guiding you, nudging you toward the healing that your soul is ready to receive.

Are You Ready to Begin Your Healing Journey?

You don’t have to walk this path alone. If you feel a resonance with these words, I invite you to explore shamanic healing further. Whether through a session, a journey, or simply a deeper understanding, know that you are not alone—support, wisdom, and transformation are within reach.

The answers you seek are already within you. Shamanic healing simply helps illuminate the path back to your true self. Welcome. Let’s begin…

Discovering the Power of Shamanic Distance Treatments

Discovering the Power of Shamanic Distance Treatments

When I wrote a previous testimonial about my experience with shamanism, I shared how the death of my beloved older brother left me broken. I didn’t know much about shamanism at the time but booked a shamanic treatment because I wanted to feel like myself again and to be able to function better. I believed I had nothing to lose.

As I lay down on Deborah’s healing table, she shook a rattle to call her helping spirits as she passed around me, laying a crystal here and another one there. It marked the beginning of regular shamanic treatments that guided me to a new chapter in my life that included loss but also support as my shamanic practitioner helped me discover a world of helping spirits, power animals and touchstones.

When Deborah suggested a distance treatment during the COVID-19 pandemic, I was somewhat hesitant but decided to trust the journey. After all, it hadn’t let me down so far. I knew she would be using a teddy bear as a ‘proxy’ and as I closed the blinds in my bedroom and lay down on my bed, Deborah texted to let me know my treatment was about to begin.

I felt extremely relaxed and comfortable and before long, I felt like my brother was in the room with me. He was smiling. That beautiful, familiar smile. He assured me he was fine, that I was fine and that he would always be with me but in a different way. I was sobbing but felt the comfort of the sun shining on my face. I felt what you might describe as a sensation in my hands, as though I was releasing something but not quite sure I wanted to let go.

As Deborah and I had discussed before my treatment, she texted me when it was complete, and I took some time to gather myself before calling her to discuss my experience. I don’t know if I was looking for affirmation, but I wanted to hear what she had to say before I allowed the words to tumble out of my mouth.

My brother was there, she confirmed, and indeed told me that we were both fine. He also told me it was time to let go; to let both of us move forward – together but apart. It now made sense why it felt like I was releasing something.

And the sun on my face? Deborah told me her helping spirits instructed her to take the teddy bear to a sunny window to let me know brighter days were ahead and that I just needed to be brave enough to walk towards them. Like always, everything came together and made complete sense.

Any hesitation I had about the power of distance treatments evaporated. Sure, having a treatment in the comfort of my own home was convenient but it was so much more. I felt like I was able to surrender myself to my treatment much more quickly. Could it be because I was surrounded by things that held such significance to me, including a picture of me with my brother and sister that has forever hung on my bedroom wall?

Though I tend to be very analytical, I realized it doesn’t really matter why my distance treatment had been so powerful – just that it had been so comforting and that Deborah was able to provide me with such wise advice that I’m confident will help me continue to move forward.

Shamanism in a Modern World

Shamanism in a Modern World

My Journey into Shamanism

When I first encountered what I now know to be Shamanism, I was a young girl.  My mother arranged yearly trips to places which, at that time, were the most unlikely of holiday destinations: Guatemala, Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador – to name a few. On many of these early adventures we saw in living practice what was roughly translated to us as ‘Medicine Men’.  It all seemed very exotic and primitive.  I naturally concluded that it was only something one would see in  places with ancient civilizations, ruins and jungles and I saw no connection to my life in urban North America!

Although I had been transfixed by these experiences on my childhood travels, decades later when I experienced Shamanism right here at home,  I could not fathom how it could factor into our modern, technological world. Well, I couldn’t have been more wrong. After over a decade of  Shamanic training and practice, I came to understand that shamanism is not only relevant but it is desperately needed by our society today.

It was a winding, bumpy path…

It was not a smooth or easy transition into the Shamanic world. I felt frequent embarrassment due to my fear that I was just making all of this stuff up in my head. For the first two years of my shamanic training I prefaced every shamanic-related utterance with, ” I know this sounds weird or crazy but…” and then I would proceed to share the information or experience with friends, family or colleagues that had come to me as a result my shamanism practices. Without fail I was greeted, not by the hysterical laughter and finger pointing I was expecting, but by open faces and ready ears. I was astounded by the receptiveness and genuine curiosity people had about what I was doing.  Even those few who I was sure would scoff and tease listened without judgement.

It took into my third year to stop my ‘ prefacing’ habit. People were  genuinely curious and gravitated  to hear more or even seek me out to ask more specific questions. Men, women, kids, lawyers, police officers, ambulance workers, teachers, bankers, engineers – not the usual suspects you’d expect to be open to anything like this – asked questions with sincere interest in the answers. I began to realize that even though we have endless ways in our society to connect with others we instinctively realize that we do not actually feel connected. We sense we are missing some elusive element in order to put a context to our lives.

Context: Shamanism, by its very essence provides context to life…

As I moved along in my training and practice I came to realize Shamanism had quietly but adeptly become the hub into which all the spokes of my life had effortlessly slipped into place. I now had a vocabulary to define unusual personal experiences, some of which  I had experienced since I was a girl. It also provided a reference library where I could ask for and find information I needed. There was a new found and enduring calmness because I was starting to see how all things fit together in the most simple yet exquisite manner. A reverence for nature, its power and infinite complexities became part of my everyday consciousness. I had a found a different, and yet strangely natural way of experiencing and viewing life!

The more I connect with others in the Shamanic communities at workshops or drumming circles, the more I hear others share similar sentiments. And the kaleidoscope of people is always thrilling to me! They span the spectrum of humanity: men, women, young adults, gay, straight, corporate, retired, artsy, Hindu, Catholic, Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, Jewish – every ethnic and professional background you can imagine!  Each has found that Shamanism has provided a spiritual loom that guides us in weaving together the unique elements of our lives into a beautiful tapestry of texture and colour that is as original as our fingerprints.

The tenet of service to others is quietly inherent in all shamanic practices. Whether it is providing a healing, doing a divination to provide needed information or helping souls to reach their final destination, for each act you receive as much as you give.

Shamanism has given me a balance in perspective that didn’t  exist for me before. Connecting with nature and my helping spirits have made my life more peaceful, patient and fulfilling. I am a better parent now. I am able to assist my daughter to approach life in a more balanced and healthy manner.

If you are looking to further explore Shamanism and other ancient techniques I invite you to book a session so you can experience the wondrous benefits first-hand.

Shamanism – The Way of the Ancients

Shamanism – The Way of the Ancients

Archaeological evidence shows that since the dawn of recorded history shamans and the practice of shamanism have been common components in cultures all over the world.  I became fascinated by the concept that, at a time when there was no technology nor means of communicating long distances,  how did it come about that so many different and dispersed cultures practiced shamanic rituals that were eerily similar to one another? The benefits of shamanism must have been substantial because they have stood the test of time…

What are the benefits of Shamanism?

Many many cultures still practice shamanism today as a part of their everyday life.  They seek health and healing for their mind, body and spirit from their local shaman. They understand and appreciate the interconnections between humans and nature. They find peace and stress reduction by simple daily practices that bring balance into their homes and families.

Daily headlines in every media seem to indicate that mainstream North American culture is on a never ending search to decrease stress, increase happiness, improve mental health for us and our kids. So why then are Shamanism and other ancient strategies not more commonly practiced within our society?  Lack of awareness?  Suspicion? I really can’t say for certain.

What I can do is provide a convenient tool for those who are seeking  a lifestyle of less stress and more fulfillment a way of attaining that via awareness and learning. This is the purpose of this website: awareness and skills building though sharing experiences and online learning opportunities. It is a coupling of the ancient and the modern technologies to bring about this shared life enhancement goal.

It for this reason that I chose the the name ‘The Wired Shaman’… it is a respectful nod to Tim Berners-Lee, a British scientist at CERN, who invented the World Wide Web back in 1989. CERN is a scientific research organization that successfully brought together 22 member countries who have their best and brightest engineers and physicists working together to research and discover the fundamental structure of the universe. The Internet was developed for the purpose of allowing the CERN scientists and engineers to instantly share findings and data so they could move together in understanding the universe, how it came to be and how it works.

By using the medium of the Internet to communicate my message and the lessons, I hope to create a welcoming new portal that will allow you, and others like you, to launch a personal exploration of an ancient practice that spans our planet and may just expand our awareness of this universe and where we fit into it. So please stay a while and have a good look around. See if Shamanism speaks to you the way it has spoken to so many over thousands of years…. welcome!
