The Invisible Made Practical

The Invisible Made Practical

How the Internet itself, quietly proves that “woo woo” is not so woo after all…

Some people call spiritual energy work woo woo because you cannot hold it in your hand. Fair enough. You also cannot hold the Internet. Yet the web quietly touches almost every moment of your day. It carries your messages, your money, your maps, and your meetings through a world of signals you never see.

This is the irony and the gift. The same culture that doubts energy practice trusts the unseen web with its life. That is our doorway. If we can accept an invisible network that keeps us connected and informed, we can also accept a personal network of breath, attention, and intention that keeps us centered and clear.

The short story of the web and why it matters here

The Internet is a giant network that lets different systems talk. The World Wide Web sits on top of that network and gives us links and pages so we can find and share. The first version was built to help scientists pass information cleanly across distance. Today it is the quiet fabric of daily life. We do not need to know every wire and protocol to benefit. We follow a few simple steps, and it works.

Energy practice is similar. There is a deeper layer of experience that shapes how we feel and act. You do not have to be a physicist or a mystic to use it. A few simple steps can gather your power, brighten your field, and make your choices clean and kind.

Three parallels that make the invisible feel normal

  1. Invisible yet reliable
The web moves packets you never see. You trust it because it works again and again.
Energy practice moves attention and breath through a personal field. You trust it because your body and day change in repeatable ways. Breath slows. Thoughts unclench. Boundaries hold.
  2. Simple steps unlock huge systems
On the web you click a link, type an address, and a path opens.
In energy work you sit, breathe, and call your power home. A path opens inside you. The steps are simple. The effects are real.
  3. Connection at scale
A small signal can reach the other side of the world.
A small practice can change the tone of your whole day. You do not need drama. You need a clean signal that arrives where it is meant to go.

Why the “woo woo” label misses the point

Woo woo is a shrug word. It says unseen therefore unreal. But you already live by unseen systems every day. You flip a light switch and current flows. You speak into the air and your phone hands your words to a friend in another city. You open a browser and trust a river of code to bring you a page. The unseen can be practical. The question is not Do I see it… The question is Does it work and does it help me live well.

What energy practice actually does in plain language

  • It brings you back to center, so your choices come from your own field instead of from fear or social pull
  • It tones and brightens your boundaries, so other people’s moods do not cling to you
  • It steadies the nervous system, so your breath drops low and you recover faster after stress
  • It clears the signal, so your intuition and spiritual guidance feel clean and usable
  • It restores capacity, so you give from a full cup and stop the quiet leaks that lead to burnout

None of this requires belief. It asks for a few minutes of honest practice and a little curiosity about your own experience.

A gentle metaphor you can feel

Think of your personal field like your home Wi Fi. When the signal is strong and secure, everything works better. Pages load. Calls do not drop. You feel calm because the system is steady. When the signal is weak or open to every passerby, you get lag and noise. Energy practice is how you strengthen the signal and set a clean password. You gather your power close, you seal the field, and the noise falls away.

Where science sits in this conversation

Physics gives us language for fields, signals, and information. That language is a helpful mirror for spiritual practice, but it is a metaphor, not a proof. Science rests on equations and lab tests. Energy work rests on lived experience and skill. When we remember that, we can borrow the parallels without making claims we do not need. The point is usefulness. If a simple practice helps you meet your life with more steadiness and kindness, keep it.

 The deeper symbolism

  • The web began as a way to share knowledge across distance. Energy practice is a way to share wisdom across the distance inside you, from scattered mind back to present body and steady heart.
  • The web depends on agreed rules so signals do not collide. Energy practice gives you agreed steps so your inner signals do not collide.
  • The web changed the world by making the invisible usable. Energy practice changes your world the same way.

An invitation

If this framing softens the old woo woo story for you, come practice with me. In Calling in Your Power, you and a trusted partner learn calm, repeatable methods to gather your energy and keep it close. No jargon. No drama. Just clear steps you can use in minutes whenever you need steadiness. The invisible turns practical. And like the web, once you feel how it works, you will wonder how you managed without it.

A Closer Look at Possible Side Effects of Meditation

A Closer Look at Possible Side Effects of Meditation

Researchers: Meditation May Not Be Safe for Everyone…

For years, meditation has been presented as a universal good practice that calms the mind, heals the body, and uplifts the spirit. And for many people, this is true. But within the medical community, a more nuanced picture is starting to emerge. Quietly, doctors, psychologists, and researchers are raising concerns: meditation may not be safe for everyone.

Potential Risks of Meditation

When we invite stillness, we also open the door to whatever is waiting in the depths of our psyche. While this can be a powerful way to access healing – this approach can trigger many potentially unexpected negative mental health experiences (see links to articles at the end of this blog to read more about the specific impacts).

Meditation can also have another possible side effect… In our practice of seeking stillness, we may unintentionally invite in energies from other realms…

The act of meditating is practiced here in  ordinary reality in the Middle World. Without taking steps to set clear spiritual boundaries, it is easy  for a person to open themselves to energies of non-ordinary reality. In those spaces dwell not only benign presences but also:

  • Energies and beings, human and non human, who have not made it to their proper destination after death
  • Wandering souls, or lost beings who remain attached to the Middle World.
  • Entities who prowl or troll these realms looking to attach to or feed off the life force of living beings.

In addition to these risks, those in the medical community researching the effects of meditation are now acknowledging and cautioning those practicing mediation to be aware of these possible negative side effects:

  • Heightened anxiety and panic rather than easing the nervous system, meditation can amplify fear for some.
  • Depersonalization or dissociation individuals may feel cut off from themselves or reality.
  • Emergence of psychotic episodes  in rare cases, especially for those with a history of mental illness, meditation has been linked to triggering psychosis.
  • Sleep disturbances and mood swings  prolonged or improperly guided practice can destabilize rather than harmonize.

Here are links to two articles on the subject to help you start your research:

What I See in My Shamanic Practice

It is not uncommon for people to arrive for a shamanic session and share the fact that something ‘does not feel right and they are struggling’.

As we chat, many say that their mental health issues seemed to get worse the more they practiced meditation.

I don’t believe this happens because meditation is “bad” but because possibly (as the research states), the stillness can have strong impacts on an individual’s mental state AND (from a shamanic perspective) meditation could also ‘open portals’ without providing a person with a safe way to navigate what’s on the other side.

Without actively setting a clear intention and requesting spiritual protection, a person could end up in very vulnerable territory psychologically and energetically.

Why Shamanic Practices Offer Another Way

Shamanic work approaches healing differently. It does not force stillness or silence; instead, it offers a guided, rhythmic, and intentional framework. The steady beat of the drum or rattle creates a container a safe channel for consciousness to shift.

Shamanic practices of healing and empowerment always include the presence of our helping spirits such as: our helping spirits, our ancestors, power animals, and spirit teachers, that are always on hand during journeying to facilitate healing and empowerment.

At the same time, they act as our ‘spiritual bouncers’, turning away or blocking  energies, beings, or spirits that are not present for our highest and best good. This is a crucial difference.

When practicing meditation, we can be entering realms with no such protection or no helping spirits standing watch every second. Journeying, done properly, provides both a safe path and guardianship.

Journeying provides structure. Unlike unbounded meditation, shamanic journeying follows a path: a descent or ascent into a spirit filled realm, guided by rhythm and intention. We work with allies.

In shamanism, you do not travel alone. Helping spirits are invited into the process, creating support and protection. The body and mind stay engaged.

Journeying is not about dissolving the self but about expanding awareness while remaining connected to one’s physical being grounded, embodied, and present. Healing is relational. Shamanic practice emphasizes relationship with Nature, with Spirit, with Community. The process is NOT an isolating inward spiral, but a weaving into life itself.

Learning Shamanic Journeying Safely…

For those seeking inner work without potentially destabilizing risks, shamanic journeying can be a profound and safer alternative. Like any spiritual discipline, it must be practiced with care and respect. Proper practice includes:

  1. Understanding the cosmology of the Upper, Middle, and Lower Worlds.
  2. Developing relationships with trusted helping spirits.
  3. Setting clear intention before each journey.
  4. Closing and grounding practices to return fully and safely.

When learned properly, journeying becomes not just a technique but a way of life offering clarity, empowerment, and deep healing without the unintended side effects that some experience with meditation.

Meditation is a beautiful path for many, but it is not the only one. And for some, it may even be harmful.

Shamanic practices offer another ancient, time-tested way to heal, to grow, and to reconnect with the soul.

This is the path I walk and the path I share: not to replace anyone’s truth, but to offer additions/alternatives for those who need them. Healing is not one size fits all. The spirit world meets each of us where we are and guides us, step by step, back to wholeness.

Final Thought…

We are all naturally wired to do this shamanic work as we travel our unique soul path. Our ancestors all practiced this way of being, because their societies were deeply aware of the myriad of helping beings and nature spirits. Their communities acknowledged, respected, and worked with these energies and realms as a natural part of life. It is not a long or arduous path back to this natural wiring. We simply need to reawaken to the ways of our ancestors, reconnect with the natural world, and open to the universal energies and cosmos that continue to surround, protect and support us.

If you have more questions or want to schedule a session, feel free to reach out. I’d be honoured to support you on your healing journey.

Q1: Can meditation have negative effects?
Yes. While meditation is helpful for many, medical research and practitioner experience show that it can sometimes trigger anxiety, dissociation, sleep disruption, or even psychosis in vulnerable individuals.

Q2: How is shamanic journeying different from meditation?
Shamanic journeying is guided, rhythmic, and intentional. It always includes the protection of helping spirits such as ancestors, power animals, and spirit teachers. This support reduces risks and creates a safer framework for healing.

Q3: Is shamanic journeying safe for beginners?
Yes, when learned from by an experienced teacher/practitioner. Safe journeying includes setting intention, working with helping spirits, and using grounding practices. This allows healing to unfold naturally in presence of helping spirits.

Shamanism: A Pathway to Deep Healing and Spiritual Balance

Shamanism: A Pathway to Deep Healing and Spiritual Balance

If you’ve found yourself here, trust that it’s no accident. Your spirit—perhaps even your helping spirits—has guided you to this moment. Something deep within you knows that healing is needed, even if you don’t fully understand how or why. Shamanic healing is an ancient practice that has helped countless people throughout history find balance, clarity, and profound transformation. If you are searching for answers, relief, or a deeper connection to your true self, you are in the right place.

What is Shamanism?

Shamanism is one of the oldest healing traditions known to humanity. It is not a religion, nor is it confined to one culture or belief system. It is a way of understanding and working with the unseen spiritual energies that shape our lives. As a shamanic practitioner, I serve as a bridge between the physical and spiritual worlds, facilitating healing at the deepest levels—far beyond what the mind alone can comprehend.

Shamanic healing works on the energetic and spiritual layers of our being. Unlike conventional methods that often address only symptoms, shamanism goes to the root of imbalance, whether it stems from past trauma, soul fragmentation, or disconnection from your true essence. Through practices such as soul retrieval, energy clearing, and spirit guidance, we restore wholeness, vitality, and inner harmony.

Why You May Be Seeking Shamanic Healing

You may feel lost, stuck, or weighed down by emotions or experiences that you can’t seem to shake. You may have tried traditional therapy or other healing methods without finding the resolution you seek. Shamanism is for those who sense—deep down—that there is more to healing than what meets the eye. Your inner knowing has led you here because you are ready to step onto a path of true transformation.

Here’s how shamanic healing can help:

1. Healing Deep Emotional and Spiritual Wounds

Many struggles in life stem from unresolved trauma or soul loss. When we go through painful experiences, parts of our soul can fragment as a survival response, leaving us feeling incomplete. Soul retrieval is a core shamanic practice that brings these lost soul parts back, restoring your wholeness and vitality. People who experience soul retrieval often report a renewed sense of self, inner strength, and emotional freedom.

2. Releasing Anxiety, Stress, and Overwhelm

Modern life can be incredibly draining, disconnecting us from our true nature. Shamanic techniques such as journeying, breathwork, and energetic clearing help release the burdens that weigh you down. These practices bring deep relaxation, clarity, and a sense of peace that transcends the chaos of everyday life.

3. Reconnecting with Your True Path and Purpose

Many people come to shamanic healing feeling lost or uncertain about their direction. If you have ever felt like something is missing but can’t quite put your finger on it, this work can help. Through guided shamanic journeys and spiritual insight, we uncover what your soul is longing for, helping you realign with your purpose and inner truth.

4. Restoring Connection to the Natural and Spiritual Realms

We are not separate from nature or the unseen realms—we are a part of them. Yet, in today’s world, many of us feel disconnected from the deeper rhythms of life. Shamanic practices help restore that connection, allowing you to experience the wisdom and healing power of the natural world, your ancestors, and your own spirit allies.

5. Clearing Negative Energies and Strengthening Your Energetic Field

You may feel heavy, drained, or stuck in toxic cycles without fully understanding why. Shamanic energy clearing works to remove these unseen influences, helping you feel lighter, more protected, and more empowered in your daily life.

Trust That You Were Led Here for a Reason

Shamanic healing is not just about fixing what feels broken—it’s about reclaiming your power, reconnecting with your spirit, and stepping into a more vibrant and whole version of yourself. If you’ve found your way here, it’s because you are being called to this work. Your helping spirits have already been guiding you, nudging you toward the healing that your soul is ready to receive.

Are You Ready to Begin Your Healing Journey?

You don’t have to walk this path alone. If you feel a resonance with these words, I invite you to explore shamanic healing further. Whether through a session, a journey, or simply a deeper understanding, know that you are not alone—support, wisdom, and transformation are within reach.

The answers you seek are already within you. Shamanic healing simply helps illuminate the path back to your true self. Welcome. Let’s begin…

Shamanic Healing for Treating Depression

Shamanic Healing for Treating Depression

Navigating the Depths: Shamanic Healing for Resolving Depression

Depression, a pervasive mental health condition affecting millions worldwide, manifests as a profound sense of sadness, hopelessness, and disconnection. While conventional treatments such as therapy and medication offer relief for many, there’s growing interest in alternative approaches, including Shamanic healing techniques. In this comprehensive exploration, I examine the benefits and techniques of Shamanic treatments for resolving depression in clients, uncovering the transformative potential of ancient wisdom in healing the modern soul.

Understanding Depression from a Shamanic Perspective:

Shamanism, rooted in ancient wisdom and indigenous cultures, offers a unique lens through which to understand and address depression. In Shamanic cosmology, depression is viewed not merely as a biochemical imbalance but as a manifestation of soul loss, energetic disharmony, or spiritual disconnection. Central to Shamanic healing is the recognition of the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit, and the belief that healing requires addressing these aspects holistically.

Benefits of Shamanic Healing for Depression:

Shamanic healing techniques offer a holistic approach to depression treatment that resonates deeply with individuals seeking a sense of wholeness and meaning in their lives. Unlike conventional treatments, Shamanic healing addresses the root causes of depression at the soul level, facilitating profound shifts in consciousness, perception, and emotional well-being. Some of the key benefits of Shamanic healing for depression include:

Soul Retrieval: One of the core Shamanic techniques for addressing depression is soul retrieval. Soul loss, believed to occur due to trauma or significant life experiences, can leave individuals feeling fragmented and disconnected. Through soul retrieval ceremonies, Shamanic practitioners assist clients in reclaiming lost soul parts, restoring vitality, purpose, and resilience.

Energetic Clearing and Balancing: Shamanic healing involves working with subtle energies to clear blockages, release stagnant emotions, and restore energetic balance within the individual. Rituals, ceremonies, and energy clearing techniques help to cleanse the aura, chakras, and energy field, promoting a sense of lightness, clarity, and inner harmony.

Connection to Nature and Spirit: Shamanic healing will connect to the boundless energies of natural settings, harnessing the healing power of the earth, elements, and spirit allies. Through practices such as journeying, vision quests, and communing with plant medicines, clients reconnect with the wisdom of nature and their own inner guidance, finding solace and inspiration in the beauty and mystery of the natural world.

Symbolic and Metaphorical Healing: Shamanic healing incorporates symbolic rituals, storytelling, and metaphorical language to facilitate deep healing and transformation. Symbols, animal spirits, and archetypal imagery serve as gateways to the unconscious mind, allowing clients to explore and integrate suppressed emotions, memories, and beliefs underlying their depression.

Techniques of Shamanic Treatment for Depression:

Shamanic treatment for depression encompasses a diverse array of techniques tailored to the unique needs and preferences of each client. While specific practices may vary among traditions and practitioners, some common Shamanic techniques for resolving depression include:

Shamanic Journeying: Clients are guided into altered states of consciousness through rhythmic drumming, chanting, or visualization, allowing them to access deeper layers of the psyche and receive guidance from spirit allies or power animals.

Hands-On Healing: Shamanic practitioners may use hands-on techniques such as energy healing, massage, or soul extraction to clear energetic blockages, restore vitality, and promote physical and emotional well-being.

Integration and Aftercare: Following Shamanic treatment, clients are supported in integrating their experiences and insights into their daily lives. This may involve self-care practices, journaling, counseling, or ongoing support from the Shamanic practitioner or community.

Benefits and Positive Outcomes of Shamanic Healing for Depression:

The benefits of Shamanic healing for depression extend far beyond symptom relief, encompassing profound transformations in consciousness, perception, and quality of life. Some of the key benefits and positive outcomes of Shamanic healing for depression include:

Deep Healing and Transformation: Shamanic healing addresses the root causes of depression at the soul level, facilitating profound shifts in consciousness, perception, and emotional well-being. Clients experience a sense of wholeness, vitality, and empowerment as they reclaim lost soul parts and integrate suppressed emotions, memories, and beliefs.

Spiritual Awakening and Connection: Shamanic healing reconnects clients with their inner guidance, spiritual essence, and the wisdom of nature, fostering a sense of purpose, meaning, and belonging. Clients experience a deepening of their spiritual practice and a newfound appreciation for the interconnectedness of all life.

Enhanced Resilience and Coping Skills: Through Shamanic healing, clients develop greater resilience, emotional intelligence, and coping skills for navigating life’s challenges. They learn to trust their intuition, cultivate healthy boundaries, and embrace uncertainty with grace and courage.

Improved Relationships and Communication: Shamanic healing fosters deeper connections and intimacy in relationships as clients release old patterns, heal emotional wounds, and communicate authentically from the heart. Clients experience greater empathy, compassion, and understanding in their interactions with others.

Greater Joy, Creativity, and Vitality: Shamanic healing awakens clients to the joy, beauty, and magic of life, inspiring them to pursue their passions, express their creativity, and live with purpose and presence. Clients experience a renewed zest for life and a deep appreciation for the gift of being alive.

A Final Note:

Shamanic healing offers a profound and transformative approach to resolving depression by addressing the root causes of suffering at the soul level. Through soul retrieval, energy healing, rituals, ceremonies, and connection to nature and spirit, clients experience deep healing, spiritual awakening, and a renewed sense of purpose, meaning, and vitality. As individuals reclaim lost soul parts, integrate suppressed emotions, and align with their true essence, they embark on a sacred journey of self-discovery, empowerment, and wholeness. In the embrace of Shamanic healing, the shadows of depression give way to the light of transformation, illuminating the path to a life filled with joy, creativity, and authentic connection.

The Benefits of A Power Animal

The Benefits of A Power Animal

The Many Benefits of Having a Power Animal

Power animal is another term for a spirit helper in animal form. Each of us has at least one and, more commonly, numerous power animals and those animals can change over time. They come to us because they have a lesson we need to learn or a power or skill they are willing to share, such as fearlessness, strength, gentleness, understanding and patience.

Several of my own power animals have been with me for several years and I have experienced firsthand and observed with fascination how spirit helpers can enter our lives when we most need their unique expression of power and then leave, typically because the relationship has served its purpose and another animal is or will be entering your life.

Consider the cougar, for instance. A powerful, agile and unhesitating animal, it shares lessons on how to be a balanced leader who doesn’t rush into the attack but doesn’t lurk in the brush either. The cougar can help you decide how best to use your personal powers, particularly when defending yourself from aggressors.

If you’re going through a period of transformation, meanwhile, a butterfly may enter your life. Butterflies represent joy, freedom, creativity and change. Take a look at what’s going on in your life and consider if it’s time to make some changes. If you’re already in the midst of a transformation, this power animal will give you the strength to gracefully navigate your transition.

A power animal can be a mammal, bird, reptile or even a mythical creature, such as a unicorn or dragon. Your power animal isn’t just a single animal, but the entire species. If your power animal is a hawk, for example, it will represent all hawks.

You can let your power animal come to you when it thinks the time is right – perhaps through a vision or dream – or you can ask it to show itself to you through meditation. Some people have direct encounters with their power animals in nature. As a Shamanic Practitioner, I can do a power animal retrieval for you and help you learn about and connect with your power animals.

You may love a particular animal or would like to have a certain animal on your team, but don’t be disappointed if an entirely different animal shows up. Remember, power animals come to us and we need to trust their ability to share important lessons and wisdom with us. Many people have had longstanding relationships with power animals without even knowing it and upon learning about one of their animal spirit helpers, immediately recognize an existing relationship.

Just as our ancestors watched animals and their traits, abilities and habits very carefully and learned to respect them, Shamanic Practitioners around the world have relied on the guidance and wisdom of spirit animals for centuries.

Our power animals are valuable allies and can be exceptional teachers if we’re receptive to what they have to share with us. Be open to feel and experience the presence of the spirit animal who has chosen to guide, support and teach you.  Identifying your spirit animal is just the beginning. I encourage you to study their life, habitat and characteristics to better understand how they can help you. Find a picture of your power animal and mediate on it.

Truly connecting with your power animal can help you learn more about your authentic self and life purpose and how you can overcome challenges and bring more meaning to your life. I look forward to helping you identify and get to know your power animal!

Discovering the Power of Shamanic Distance Treatments

Discovering the Power of Shamanic Distance Treatments

When I wrote a previous testimonial about my experience with shamanism, I shared how the death of my beloved older brother left me broken. I didn’t know much about shamanism at the time but booked a shamanic treatment because I wanted to feel like myself again and to be able to function better. I believed I had nothing to lose.

As I lay down on Deborah’s healing table, she shook a rattle to call her helping spirits as she passed around me, laying a crystal here and another one there. It marked the beginning of regular shamanic treatments that guided me to a new chapter in my life that included loss but also support as my shamanic practitioner helped me discover a world of helping spirits, power animals and touchstones.

When Deborah suggested a distance treatment during the COVID-19 pandemic, I was somewhat hesitant but decided to trust the journey. After all, it hadn’t let me down so far. I knew she would be using a teddy bear as a ‘proxy’ and as I closed the blinds in my bedroom and lay down on my bed, Deborah texted to let me know my treatment was about to begin.

I felt extremely relaxed and comfortable and before long, I felt like my brother was in the room with me. He was smiling. That beautiful, familiar smile. He assured me he was fine, that I was fine and that he would always be with me but in a different way. I was sobbing but felt the comfort of the sun shining on my face. I felt what you might describe as a sensation in my hands, as though I was releasing something but not quite sure I wanted to let go.

As Deborah and I had discussed before my treatment, she texted me when it was complete, and I took some time to gather myself before calling her to discuss my experience. I don’t know if I was looking for affirmation, but I wanted to hear what she had to say before I allowed the words to tumble out of my mouth.

My brother was there, she confirmed, and indeed told me that we were both fine. He also told me it was time to let go; to let both of us move forward – together but apart. It now made sense why it felt like I was releasing something.

And the sun on my face? Deborah told me her helping spirits instructed her to take the teddy bear to a sunny window to let me know brighter days were ahead and that I just needed to be brave enough to walk towards them. Like always, everything came together and made complete sense.

Any hesitation I had about the power of distance treatments evaporated. Sure, having a treatment in the comfort of my own home was convenient but it was so much more. I felt like I was able to surrender myself to my treatment much more quickly. Could it be because I was surrounded by things that held such significance to me, including a picture of me with my brother and sister that has forever hung on my bedroom wall?

Though I tend to be very analytical, I realized it doesn’t really matter why my distance treatment had been so powerful – just that it had been so comforting and that Deborah was able to provide me with such wise advice that I’m confident will help me continue to move forward.

~Linda
